In a safe conservative riding, and I'm leaning towards casting my purely symbolic vote for the Liberals for the first time (to signal national unity) whereas I would usually be an electoral reform single-issue voter (NDP, never fell for Trudeau's lies).

Having civil liberties constitutionally enshrined serves to protect against tyrannies of the majority/plurality. Counting on the majority/plurality to punish the abuse of the nwsc electorally defeats this purpose.

2/3 supermajority in the legislature doesn't go far enough. Not when majorities are formed with less than 50% of the vote.
