I decided to take a gap year when they signed Rodgers (been a fan since Bradshaw era). Watching Futbol instead.

A number of former Spirits in the league as well. Aylmer is captain of Lexington SC (undefeated & in 1st place this season). Silano plays for Spokane & was gracious enough to pose for this when they came to town. (I had to warn those around me I'd be cheering both ways that night.)

My Mom once told me to get budgeting advice from my sister (teacher) who married a well-paid engineer & lived close to both parents (free childcare). His parents gifted them a car & split their land purchase with them. Their "budget" was choosing between 1 cruise or 2 stateside vacations each year.

In time, everyone will look back on these years & appreciate what an accomplishment it is to finish 2nd in both shield race & tournament in back to back years. I am excited to see how we build on this next year.

Last year was more frustrating when we had several shots that just missed; we were clearly the better team & still lost.

I'm glad you're going home. There will be more tears, for sure, but there will also be laughter as you share stories about your grandfather. And, hopefully more laughter than tears. Soak in those memories, they will sustain you.
