2/2:
Am having little motivation to keep up writing a newsletter (Substack) that gets little 👀👀
And, yeah, would rather write broadly & not care at 1st who sees it.
But, still Subbing @ present.
#2026 will hope to write more & more often.
Substack has its issues, I am aware.

Fully embracing my #chronicillness has been a slow process. Having family support and understanding has been a balm for my #grieving my pre-Covid self.
This week has made me become more self-accepting, and more #grateful for what i *do* have. This comes after being accepted for who I am, now. 🌞

Finally an appropriate #Thanksgiving family photo post.
Happy Thanksgiving, America!

Happy Day of Turkey Dinners, with the caveat that #Thanksgiving is the epitome of #colonization and I'm over it. Also, wear a mask if you need to, it's no one's business but your own.

I frequently wonder
how it can be
that after all this time
so many people
still seem oblivious to the need
to take basic precautions
but then (every year)
I see messages
from fire departments
urging people not
to deep fry their turkeys
and I think to myself: ah.

So glad that mom and I are having our own lil Thanksgiving day together here at home. I have been overwhelmed w/a flare up of illness or the flu, depending on who's deciding for me.
I love family gatherings but the #photopsia from the #longcovid is too much for me this time of year. #Thanksgiving

"Assume everyone I interact with online is struggling with their mental health" has only become a more important guiding principle in the past couple years
My personal guidelines for dealing with people on social media:

Assume everyone is a friend you haven't yet gotten to know.
Assume everyone is struggling with their mental health
Don't promise any emotional labor you might not be able to provide
If someone seems like a hater, disengage right away

Oakland, my Oakland!
School shootings, threat of federal intervention and other public safety issues facing Oakland have made Mayor Barbara Lee's first term unprecedented. She is only more resolved to be the city's biggest cheerleader.

Barbara Lee has been Oakland’s mayor for half a year. This month she found herself consoling the friends and family of a beloved community college football coach who taught thousands.
