It's funny, I remember watching the Beijing Olympics and their pollution problem garnered quite a bit of attention. The Chinese government was embarrassed by the situation and they did something about it.

This is all due to the shooting of Brian Thompson and the backlash caused against the insurance companies. The industry basically makes their money by screwing with people's lives. A publicly traded one at that. You can bet that the hospitals that bill them are going to try to re-negotiate rates.

Killing him? No it wasn't right, but it did bring the nation's attention to the crooks in the health insurance industry. This is the reason he is heralded.
