Hi, This is the mechanica. I wanted to write a quick explainer for this server. While it was originally meant to be a sort of extension of my personal tumblr, it's better as a space for anyone who is into dark romance. From modern takes like LobaRev, to Phantom of the Opera, or Nosferatu. Especially since places to enjoy nuanced takes on romance and sex that fall outside of the cis white male gaze are coming under more needless scrutiny, it might be more comfortable here for now. I try to focus on trauma recovery in real life while exploring darker themes in fiction, and that distinction is of the upmost importance. They are tied, and that is something that will be respected here. That being said, much like my tumblr there were a few more things I wanted to assert here for anyone curious as to what that looks like.... Not everything can be sad and angry all of the time, it's not healthy. There is a time and a place for catharsis and discussion of heavier subject matters like trauma and the causes of it, and there are designated places for that in this server. There are strict rules about listing content warnings at the top of posts. Thank you. mech

Sorry we really went from free the nipple, take back the night, slut walks, and ending gender/sex segregation in sports being fucking milquetoast feminism 101 concepts to fucking girl dinner and "I just worry about fairness if we let trans girls play against cis ones" and "it was right of that woman to call the cops on a black man for existing near here in public during the day time because men are all violent monsters" and "radical feminism isn't transphobic we just need to kill all men including trans ones those oppressive traitors" and I will legit never be able to be normal about it. What the FUCK happened. I'd say I wonder what the feminists of my youth would say about this but I'm one and lemme tell ya I want to throw up. Go fucking read bell hooks or do something else useful please because all of this learned helplessness, gender essentialism, and transphobia dressed up as feminism is actively holding us back.
