Raise a well adjusted enough kid and you can take over as them for the next generation - with limitations based on whatever trauma the previous generation bestowed.

You play as a parent who assigns chores/allowance/punishments to your child. You don’t directly control the child, Tomagatchi style.
If you set too many chores in a given month, the child will rebel. Too few, and they won’t learn responsibility.
