Its a great toolkit for a small opt in program. I've read the toolkit, in no way is it sufficient for a city wide plan to close thousands of sections of roads in all 5 boroughs. Again i'm a @transalt.org supporter, ride my bike as my primary transit. I just dont see enough there, there.

What about bus routes that run on those roads, etc? Again I just find all these ideas to sound great hypothetically but what does it look like in practice.

Ya I’m familiar. But my point is 71 schools are currently involved. How do you implement all 1800 schools? Is it the schools job to shut the road down? And put gates up daily? A la Vanderbilt ave open streets? Are we talking permanent closure?

To me this again feels like the free bus plan. The name is catchy the gist sounds great, but when you dig beyond the surface level of the plan it all starts to maybe feel like a shiny new toy that actually isn't fully fleshed out.

can someone explain the school streets idea to me? my daughters elementary school is on 18th ave in Brooklyn. Would the idea be to close 18th ave permanently? My hesitancy to rank @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social above 2 or 3 is that these ideas sound great but how on earth would they actually work?

Vague & opaque costs like this and the ungodly time it will actually take to install is a big reason @democrats.org keep losing elections. Extrapolate this to a new train line or the BQE and you’ll feel like 😵
