The funny thing is that the most well-known leftist Internet personality/influencer, far more famous than this guy will ever be, is literally a jacked alpha male gym bro

I feel like the QAnon uncle at the family gathering when I try to tell people that it’s the concert that’s meant to be tiny not the desk. Like it’s “tiny (desk concert)” not “(tiny desk) concert”

Interesting. What do you think the old mental models are and what do you think the new ones should be?

I had roommates who told me that my cats litter box smelled bad and it had been bothering them for ages. I guess I was used to the smell because I had no clue, and needless to say I was mortified. Asking an honest friend is probably the only way to know

The Chris cuomo TAFS episode is a work of art. Never did I expect Chris cuomo to be so witty, so jacked, and so ready and willing to call Adam gay unprompted

“I must consult with my court” says the king. In the empty court is a great machine, and about it many masks. He asks a question of his war counselor, and the machine assumes one mask. He asks the advice of his treasurer, and the machine assumes another. In every voice, it lies. He does not notice.

It’s the same thing as companies making climate promises of “net zero by 2035” and the like. Let’s report once these people and companies actually do the thing! Not when they make a verbal promise they can abandon tomorrow

Same, also wish I had any info about when to expect these. This is the only accessory I’m going to buy and it would suck to not be able to even play my switch with a group because they sell out

I certainly don’t say this to mean that language policing didn’t have major political impact. The tides of the culture war were total changed by people being turned off by language policing, among other things. However I don’t think almost any of these people were actually really impacted by it

I could detail multiple incidences of him making a total fool of himself, but my favorite was when he spent an entire day angrily arguing with employees in the comments section of the internal version of Facebook, all to defend a blatantly false claim the company made about a benefits cut

Andrew Bosworth (Boz), longtime head of Meta’s AR/VR division (reality labs) was well known inside the company while I was there to be a joke of a leader. Without a doubt the only reason he is where he is is because he was Zuck’s TA in college.

What I mean to say is that it’s totally a real thing that exists in spaces like oberlin. But only in spaces like oberlin, where no one who would be upset about it would ever choose to be

I went to oberlin (2017-2021) and encountered it tons. There were definitely social consequences to not adhering to continually developing language standards. Pretty much everyone (we all signed up to go to Oberlin lol) was either fully on board or tolerated it with varying levels of disgruntlement

Staking the company’s finances and reputation on any project led by Andrew Bosworth, let alone the metaverse, was a laughable decision by Zuck

To be fair he was referring to Husseini’s ability to be in the room in the first place as the “testament to democracy”, not him being dragged out. The “cringeworthy heckling” part was absolutely appalling though

The shoplifting panic did loads to lead the Chesa Boudin (San Francisco DA) recall campaign to success. I expect the same dynamic played out in other local elections across the country as libs joined their conservative counterparts in capitulating to “tough on crime” ideology
