Habs fan, Packers fan, reluctant Blue Jays and Raptors fan.
Marty created that problem the moment he threw Dobes under the bus to prop Monty up and then keep Dobes on ice for a week.

Problem is coaching, defensive structure and ability to win pucks back off the boards on defense and offense.

So Ironic considering the price they're gonna pay for Dobson.

Absolutely not.

That type of package has gone for
Prime Erik Karlsson
Prime Tyler Seguin.

CB1 is a return specialist. CB2 is playing boundary when he's a slot. Front 4 can't get any pressure without exotic blitzes. Everything relying on the inside linebackers and safeties.

But hey, at least they pissed off Elgton to sign another guard.

Honestly haven't liked many of Vincent's decisions on who to start in net. But the vets have laid a massive egg so far in this series and the youth look great until they make youthful mistakes and Charlotte is a AHL vet team so they're capitalizing. Weak goals against hurt when the youth need a save

This is bang on. You'll see the same thing happening to Ottawa in the Leafs series.

Hoping this place continues to take off!

I like the first 4.. don't like O'Brien there. Right shot center which isn't a need (Suzuki, Evans, Hage, Beck, Kapanen all RS) and his athletic package is mediocre at best. Perimeter playmakers look great in junior but few scale up.

They also passed up way too many looks to make an extra pass. It's Arvid Soderblom.
April 15, 2025 at 11:30 AM
Doubt they even made an offer. They are completely absent on the WR market.

And it's not this year. Brock Nelson went for a top prospect and a 1st.

Brock Nelson.

Justin Brazeau went for a B+ prospect.

Justin Brazeau.

Jake Walman went for a 1st.

Jake Walman.

Try to make it with what you have today, that's about all you can do. Hockey trades in the Summer.

Brian - every goalie coach across the world is clipping that and showing it to their students. Masterclass. Absolute perfection.

I would be surprised; feels like an off-season move. That being said, if Habs remain in bottom 5 and the offer is right - they'd have to do it.
December 19, 2024 at 7:50 PM
Doesn't this also insulate them a bit more if they decide to trade Matheson or Savard at the deadline?

I do expect if they still trade either or both of them, that they'd immediately trade some picks for a cheaper vet D on an expiring deal to bridge the end of the year.

Question - if SKA wants to jerk Demidov around more and not allow him to sign with Montreal until his contract formally ends in May. Is there anything preventing Demidov from getting his Canadian work visa and participating in informal training sessions in Brossard in April?

They could make a team with the guys they left off.. including Ravensberger who is better than Ivankovic in net and probably beat the team they did invite.
December 3, 2024 at 1:51 PM
Back out there on PP1, didn't miss a shift and was out there with the empty net.

So much for raising the standards and instilling accountability.

Be a veteran? Carte blanche. This is Therrien level coaching.
December 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM
When will MSL be asked about accountability when we've had multiple games from Matheson and Dvorak who have actively helped the other team win; but in turn were given PP1 duties, 5-on-3 usages and start 3-on-3 OT in those games?

The reason the team isn't getting better starts there.

Might just be me but it's just showing still images rather than gifs.

Aitcheson to see if there's more offense in there.
Tretheway on a team that's undermanned compared to the competition.
Desnoyers has a chance to show if his upside is top 6 or middle 6.

The rebuilds that exit earlier generally do so because they were fortunate to win a lottery (or two) with franchise level talents available. I.E. Washington with Ovi, Pittsburgh with Crosby/Malkin. Keep in mind those rebuilds were in old lotto rules.
