Nothing tells me that I'm wasting my time here on Bluesky more than the single ❤️ on my Leadership of Deescalation post from an Executive Coach.

It was surprisingly difficult to decide what books to put on the bookcase. Even more difficult than keeping my blah blah blah to under 300 characters.

I have been reliably informed that I didn't go overboard with the gold paint pen.

This has been brewing in my little brain for a while now. What will look like a bookshelf will actually be a place to hide the 9 volt battery that will light the scene.

Last week, I made a cardboard wedge to keep my lamp from leaning on the slope of my desk. The original plan was to eventually make one out of wood that would look more tidy.

Today, I had the idea to make my cardboard wedge look like a book. Now, I have a classic stack of books under my lamp.

Listen, it's an ugly world out there. I'm here, trying to keep my boat from capsizing. To that end, I'm crafting, as I always do.

Today felt like the ideal day to pack a quilt, a good book, and a simple picnic lunch and head out into nature.

And, in case you have not already guessed, this is all #dollhouseminiatures in 1/12 scale.

Just a sunny, gorgeous late summer day here in southwestern Pennsylvania...

Margo and I worked on the #booknook in my #writingdesk today. This is just the temporary setup. We have plans for future improvements.

I am planning to make a cozy reading room book nook in one of the cubbies in my new secretary.

The photo shows the book nook in its earliest stage. I hope to paper the walls and rig up some lighting.

I don't normally name inanimate objects, but I think I will have to call her Charlotte.

But now it is at home with me, iin Southwestern PA.
July 26, 2025 at 2:09 PM
This week, I drove to Charlotte to pick it up. It had been resting on my nieces apartment.

I finally found a secretary that I couldn't live without. But it was 7 hours away. In Charlotte, NC.

In case I haven't made it absolutely clear here on Bluesky, I LOVE old writing boxes, secretaries, writing desks, etc.

That's the system that's broken. Fix that system.

Up until a few years ago, we didn't have much of a problem with deer. But with the loss of two big evergreen trees, the deer can see what's available at the buffet, and there's nothing stopping them.

And here's what's going on in my garden today. The deer have found my beautiful daylilies. They didn't eat all of them. I'm sure they'll be back tonight to clean them up.

I look forward all year to these daylilies blooming. They're one of my favorite perennials in the garden this time of year.

I'm having a cup of tea this morning and thinking about my fun weekend. I spent several days in North Carolina, visiting my sweet niece and her guy. Good food, great thrifting and antiquing, and excellent company.

There's a little 1:12 scale #happymail on its way.

Or, it's just 3 pretty pictures.

The third part of this story is a cute cat. Actually, it's the #bulletjournal Margo is resting on. This journal connects me to the person I was days, weeks, months, years ago. It connects me back to the events that made me who I am now.
May 26, 2025 at 2:36 PM
The second part of the story is a note, pasted in my bullet journal several days after it was written. It's a simple thank you note from a neighbor, written on floral paper that was stapled to a bag of sweets. It's the same kind of note you can always expect from her when you show her hospitality.
