1980 hell, you couldn't explain it to me now.

Populace protests. Elected servants should be doing something material, possibly drastic.

You DO realize you're the War Boys in your analogy, right? Pathetic, diseased cannon-fodder? Sucking up to an even more diseased, rapist god-king in hopes he'll give you the fairy tale ending he promised you?

I hadn't seen the second one. Oh my God, what a putz.

It's too late for this because he has a mandate now. The election has been held and preventing him from taking office *against* a fair election would be an absolute disaster and contrary to democracy.

This SHOULD have been invoked at the Primary stage. Colorado tried and was shot down.

How disrespectful to her constituents!

With a side of bacon.

No worries, you knew who you meant 😂

Dude...

Oh yes. I read that as a clear message. We're not gonna mock Snyder's interpretation, but this is very much not that. And priming people to expect more of the same then using that imagery to introduce a dog in a cape? Impactful, to say the least.

Because he's Krypto the Superdog. How would we know he's a Superdog without a cape?
December 19, 2024 at 4:22 PM
Using the broken and bloody Superman to signal more "dark and grounded" then IMMEDIATELY bringing in Krypto to save him and lighten the tone was deliberate.
December 19, 2024 at 4:19 PM
Opening with Superman crumpled and bleeding, slowly building music

"Okay, still dark and grounded, I guess"

*Whistles*

"Holy shit, is that...?"

Take a page out of the Repub handbook and make it super vague: "We need to focus on healthcare reform so people stop dying preventable deaths"

Nobody has to be specific about *which* people and you can read into it however you want.

Yep. Cellular oxidation is primarily what's responsible for aging. We rust. Or, thinking about it differently, we're burning but *very slowly*.

The combination of influencer culture and the mistaken belief that online SW is somehow *easier* than other forms of self-promotion.

Like, it's the trope-definer for the post-Schwarzenegger era of action hero. Originally a sleeper hit, every popcorn flick wanted to be Die Hard. Up there with Jaws and Star Wars as marking huge genre shifts.
December 15, 2024 at 1:11 PM
Holy shit, you're right.

Murphy's no random zombie, though. He's definitely cop Jesus. Not only did he rise from the dead in a perfect, incorruptible body, but he went on to absolve the police of their sins.

Saw an argument recently that Die Hard is a Hanukkah movie because it's about a guy defending a tower with limited resources and that's hard to disagree with.
