Sentencing has begun. Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb is now running through the charges against Gill.

Gill’s defence has begun mitigation, arguing for a reduced sentence: a 25% reduction for his guilty plea, or slightly more given the “unique circumstances” and issues of parliamentary privilege.

The max sentence under the Bribery Act is 10 years imprisonment for each count.
