There is something to be said about the existence of the choice making the decision to take the well-trodden path more meaningful, but often the choices everyone makes are the very plain "everyone lives happily ever after" ones, which are satisfying but often not very interesting

Something interesting to think about is that given a lot of the stats that have been released from games like ME, it also seems that most players end up making the SAME choices anyway

The actual real dress was black and blue, so it was the "bright light" version (you can see in the original photo that the background is super overexposed too)

The classification they use in the thread seems to be about whether or not the order you have to collect those keys in is fixed. If you need the blue key to reach the red key, then the red key to reach the yellow key, that's ultimately linear because you can't really deviate from the intended order.

It's an interesting localization choice because the cultural elements make it very obvious what the story is about, I suspect Japanese players probably don't even think of it as a "twist", but it's also a deliberate writing choice to spend a lot of time talking around the central point of the story

I've been watching a LP by someone who's very familiar with Japanese culture and it's funny, they nailed what the story was about literally after the opening cutscene.

As a Torontonian I would like to see the Jays in the WS but yeah, kind of a similar feeling where I'm also pulling for the Mariners a bit because hey, we've had our turn already. A lot of Canadians have the Mariners as their vacation team so even if we lose this one we wouldn't be too upset about it

I always felt like this was roughest in D&D based cRPGs particularly just because at level 1 in D&D half the classes are in one-shot range from a basic longsword attack. Neverwinter Nights got around this by boosting you to level 3 by the end of the tutorial but a lot of other games didn't do that

This is I think a big difference between Silksong and HK and why I ultimately preferred the boss fights in the former. There really aren't any bosses in Silksong where you can't find time to heal but this becomes very common with late game HK bosses, so the room for mistakes is actually a lot lower

There is a certain genre of post you see a lot online, particularly on tumblr, where someone posts something they think sounds really profound and it's impossible to tell if they just got really high or if they need to check their carbon monoxide detectors

I played through Psychonauts 2 recently and something that struck me was that it was very clearly animated by hand and how unusual that was for a studio that size. Double Fine isn't huge but they do feel like a holdout compared to a lot of their peers when it comes to mocap vs. animated by hand

This was always a problem trying to get into an MMO after years of updates, I guess it's just moved on to being a live-service problem instead. So many systems built in over time that aren't really intended to be learned all at once but as a new player you don't really have a choice about it.

I like the emphasis on the fact that even if the statements it's making are factually correct, it's still tonally inappropriate for a wikipedia article. I feel like a lot of people fixate on whether AI generated text is true/false and gloss over it just being bad writing
