I have gone so far as to disassemble furniture and stack it in the corner.
I have used them fairly often. With a little effort the “hotelness” can be neutralized quite effectively.

The blocking here seems to be so you can’t see them. Not so they can’t see you.

You can’t yet. The platform is still pretty new. There is no way to tell if profiles are real or spam. Lots of real people still only have 1 or 2 posts. So you can’t tell by activity.
