No bad for a guy who used to stutter, didn't know the language, and was undocumented.

Funda Fest by Rhode Island Black Storytellers (RIBS) was amazing.
I told my stories at schools, shared the stage with talented storytellers, got to visit sites in the city, late night conversations, performed at the first latino storytelling slam. I am loving the BBQ!

I love going to schools and sharing my stories with students, especially if those students are immigrants and students of color, like myself. I actually see myself at a young age reflected in the students faces.

A few days later I got an email from the organization producing the show. I showed the email to my wife: "look the name of the organization is Rhode Island Black Storytellers (RIBS) "
She gave me a confused look
"it's called RIBS" I said "I did get invited to the BBQ"

When I first got invited to the black storytelling festival Funda Fest 27, I got really excited and shared the news with my wife sweet Mel Melissa Pavlik. She replied "that's nice".
