I've been hatching some more quail for the backyard, and this batch did not go well. Only 6 out of 32 survived. 2 more hatched, but "failed to thrive." The latter of those two never really got the hang of standing up - they randomly kicked the air for 3 days before expiring.

After realizing we have exactly the wrong climate for celery (long periods of cool mild weather), I have decided to try my hand at Hydroponics. This is "Kratky method", otherwise known as dump a bunch of nutrient solution in a bucket and call it a day.

I built a new, larger quail coop on preparation for a new batch of quail. This one is subdivided into 4 sections that will each house 1 male and 4 females. That way the males don't murder each other. Dave Friedman has dubbed it "Quaility Inn"

Just want to use my first post to remind folk that most of recorded human history has occurred under one form of Tyranny or another.
People still lived. They still loved. They still had families and made friends and had festivals. They carved good lives out of the spaces and times between the laws.
