When playing a video game it can’t be underestimated how much better you will be at a boss fight if you give up and try again the next day.

I tried the final boss fight in Jedi: Survivor 15 times and gave up. The next day I beat it on my second try with 3 health packs left.

Breaks work man.

Poor Things Takeaways On 1st Watch:

1. The first 1/3 is SLOW but then it clicks.

2. The color grading and set design is beautiful.

3. Jarrod Carmichael is the unsung hero of the film.

4. The boat is giving Jobba’s Palace. IYKYK

Overall very well made but the gross out elements are tough for me.

Controversial Movie Opinion:

Scary Movie is not only one of the best parody movies of all time, it is also one of the most underrated and under appreciated comedy films ever made. It should be included in the pantheon of greatest comedies ever made

I watched the first half of The Idol when it came out. I decided to watch the rest because it’s only 5 eps.

With every ep it feels more and more like The Weeknd just sucking himself off.

If anything the show should be about Jocelyn but it’s not.

God I hate Abel. Did before and now I do even more.

Not a huge awards guy, but IMO, Saltburn might be the best movie I saw this past year. The fact that it didn’t even get a nom for editing or cinematography is wild. Not to mention a nom for the masterclass that Barry put on. Honestly, I think a lot of the Maestro noms should have gone to Saltburn. 🤷

Really enjoying Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Wasn’t sure how I would feel since the MonsterVerse movies I do enjoy but wouldn’t say I love.

I think the show does a wonderful job expanding the universe and making the movies even better.

Give it a shot.

P.S. Wyatt & Kurt Russell as Lee Shaw rules.

Saltburn Review

Captivating. It’s been a while since I watch a full on drama that I couldn’t take my eyes off of. It feels so dense and yet incredibly simple.

It’s uncomfortable and skin crawling but also pure. The end informs the movie you just saw and brings it to another level.

As the year comes to a close and I reflect on 2023, I see that this was a year about learning patience for me. From hernia surgery to recovery issues to a concussion. I’ve really come to appreciate what it means to be patient. I hope in 2024 I, and all of you, can continue to grow into the prime us.

Colors being associated with a specific gender has to be one of the most wild, old world, dated things on the list. I got shit for it so much as a kid. Like… I look good in pink, my watch is rainbow colored & I’m also a straight dude? How can I be okay with that?

Like this…

I haven’t even seen The Marvels yet but people using its box office to shit on it even more because it “made less than The Flash so it sucks and Flash is the best” is nuts.

1. Stop comparing DC to Marvel. The companies don’t.

2. Opinions are just that, OPINIONS.

3. Sorry but The Flash was bad.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

GOTG has never been my MCU favorites but this is a good movie with great acting and strong VFX.

The tone gave me the most issues. It felt overly and unnecessarily dark at times only to be followed by jokes that felt included just because these are “comedy” movies.

Let’s scan these studio execs once and then spend all their money without ever asking them if they are okay with it or not. I mean, we scanned their faces so we can just be them now, right? Everything they were we now own because we paid them once. That’s what you wanted right?
November 7, 2023 at 2:55 PM
They get to scan you once, pay you once, and you never get a say or pay from anything “you” are in ever again? Are you kidding me? I’m not even an actor but as a movie collector and lover I say no sir. That is some of the craziest shit I’ve ever heard.

SAG Strong.

Insane this is still going on…

Five Nights At Freddy’s (2023) First Time Watching

As someone who never played the games, I really enjoyed myself. I thought the acting was fantastic, the effects were mostly good, & the twist worked for me. As an adaptation I can’t comment on that, but as a horror movie, it was fun.

Trick ‘R Treat (2007) First Time Watching

A Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark type that finds its footing more than it doesn’t. Some the the short stories are better than others but all work well enough. I do think the nudity feels forced and unnecessary. But overall it’s a fun time.

Rest In Peace to Matthew Perry. You will be dearly missed. Friends was one of the most and still is one of the most important and loved shows in my life. You had your demons, but you beat them all. I will forever respect your comedy and character and just know your memory will live on in us all.

If you are a movie collector I highly recommend you use an app like Libbib to keep track of your collection. I can’t tell you how many times I almost bought something only to look it up and realize I already owned it. It’s a great tool to have and a must when you have 4000+ movies & shows like me.

Commented on something on X for the first time in a while and immediately got a reply about how much of an effing idiot I was for sharing my opinion.

In all my time on this app all I’ve had is constant positive interactions. It really is a positively stark contrast from the other place. Thanks all.

80s Horror Binge…

The House on Sorority Row (1982)

Surprisingly great score by Richard Band. Reminded me of some of my favorite John Barry works.

Some more intriguing editing than a lot of these old B-movies have.

A nice change up in the type of killer, makes the movie feel a little more fresh.

80s Horror Binge…

Sleepaway Camp with one of the most out of left field, insane, unnecessary, and surprising endings of any movie I’ve ever seen.

Up next, “The House on Sorority Row” (1983)

Sleepaway Camp
Child’s Play (1-3)
Friday the 13th (1-4)

In The Que:
Slumber Party Massacre
Pet Semetary
Children of the Corn

I didn’t play it till about a month ago, so I can’t speak on all the issues it had at launch, but the Gotham Knights game got severely more hate than it deserves. I’ve only had the game crash once and it wasn’t a big deal at all. Give it a shot if you were turned off by the reviews like I was.
