For those paying attention to the government shutdown, I want to remind you that our government is run by the party that's selling us out as fast as it can take orders, and the party that's putting up just enough fight that we think we don't need to do it ourselves.

The IRS wants Americans to weigh in on Direct File, the agency's free tax filing program.

We already know Direct File has been widely popular and successful.

The program could save Americans billions annually between filing fees and time costs.

For this F4, I particularly enjoyed that it echoed an older age, when we could trust our heroes, and they actually deserved that trust. It's refreshing after so much grim-dark and civil war vibe.

I saw the latest Fantastic 4 movie today. I was dreading another half-hearted horse made by a committee, but this movie absolutely nailed the sense of adventure that the original comics instilled. Their Fifties faux-future aesthetic didn't come off as hokey, derivative, or pasted on and that's rare.

It appears that America has remembered what a Molotov cocktail is. Are we going to have to rename them Freedom Cocktails?

The Snooze Bar
Slapping the snooze bar is a cognitive dissonance management technique that is both essential and inevitably abused.

2025: The Year of Cognitive Dissonance
This year is going to be a big one for cognitive dissonance, so I’d like to take a moment to give some points on cognitive dissonance management.

A conclusion to the examination of washing machine Tariffs. It's well trodden territory, but it's also where the story ends.
Tariffs, at the end of the day
We’ve come to the part of tariffs that everyone usually jumps to without thinking about it: the sum total effects.

Two good things about Trump. 1. He can't keep his mouth shut, so his evil plans leak like a sieve. 2. He's completely unreliable and quite an idiot, so the schemers can't be subtle around him.

Can anyone tell me how to find the number of washing machines that US Tariffs were collected on in 2022? the numbers are elusive. Someone in the government has to have that number, but which department? #tariffs #washingmachine #economics

Philosophizing about #netneutrality today. We used to have a standard of charging for something based on how much it cost to create. The digital economy broke that. Who is ready for Comcast to sell you access to Wikipedia as a premium service?
