Author or the Inbetween Archives - a morally gray space opera for people that like their trauma laced with dry humor and heart.
Constantly harassed by my characters.

Half are former intelligence officers, one was wrongfully imprisoned for 5 years, another for 2 years. They all lived through a decade plus of active duty in a galactic war. Yeah... trust is in short supply 😆

2/2
Spook (Rina): Of COURSE she deserves compliments. She'll still break you though
Geist (Zahir): There is ALWAYS an ulterior motive
Phantom (Elijah): Internally awkward as hell. Externally nonplussed
Spirit (Matt): Gracious, accepting, similarly complimentary
Patch (Talia): Wait, what?!

1/2 Ooh, nice!
I have an ensemble cast so:
Wraith (Ash): Deeply accepting from found family, deeply suspicious of motives otherwise
Shade (Zane): May not trust them, but ACTS like he accepts them as his due
Revenant (Kael): Suspicious but gracious. He'll definitely file it somewhere for future use

I would love to get a Booktokker doing an unhinged review of my book(s). That more than book sales numbers would be a huge achievement for me because it means that someone has really resonated with my story.

The Island by Max Brooks
It's a Minecraft story, told from the perspective of a person that has no clue what Minecraft is "Why is the sun SQUARE????". My 9yo and 11yo loved it.

Well my characters are (space) pilots that Navigate interdimensional space by feel, using alien "symphonic resonance markers" as the map they can't see and aren't aware of (in the beginning).
Of course, they'd probably get lost in a shopping mall, but you can't have everything 🙄

2/2 Ultimately though, I'd say it's about the characters and their emotions. Is the scene significant enough emotionally (and that doesn't have to mean big emotions) to jutisfy the detail?

1/2 For me it's by feel, for how it hangs together in the chapter and the book as a whole. I've cut spice from pages to a paragraph or fade to black because it felt unnecessary at that point, and I've expanded short scenes into "hand me my vibrator" territory because it felt better

At the beginning of the series, I'd have to say it's that they're both emotionally repressed disaster bunnies 🤣🤣

In this case, a random event in the prequel informing a major plot point in Book 4. Also helped me work through a potentially massive plot hole, so even though I've only written a couple hundred words today, I'm still calling it a good day 😁

Honestly, I'd like to discover fewer missing words and commas during the editing process. My brain nopes out of a ridiculous number of them while I'm writing🤦

The cat refused to stay still for the pic, so just a snippet from the Prologue of book 3 of my scifi series (the Inbetween Archives).
