Disillusioned and bitter, he turned traitor during the great battle against the risen chaos god in an attempt to prove this Hero false. Instead, he lost his hand and became the most wanted man in the kingdom. These two unlikely allies must work together to survive pitch black tunnels full of mutated creatures, angry mobs, old enemies, and their own hainted pasts. They'll find unexpected strength in each other-and the possibility for more-if they don't end up dying before they can make it out of the kingdom. They weren't meant for a happy ending, but rules are for good guys and they'll do whatever it takes to change their fates.

Lucanis is a merperson in this one, the "crows" are a shark mafia-esque family (Dellamortes are specifically grey nurse sharks) that attacks boats for money, essentially mercenary pirates. Spirits/demons are more primodial ocean spirits, Spite takes the form of a leopard seal. Zara experimented on Lucanis, forcing him and Spite together, and he killed her and everyone involved in the experiments when he escaped, but does not know about Illario's involvement. Now he's trying to convince the family that he can still be a part of things. He and Spite only get along when they are in battle/working, and everyone he meets cannot get past how different he looks, demonic, possessed, unnatural, ect. One day when the family is attacking a boat, they throw a prisoner overboard in the hopes that he will be bait/enough of a distraction for the boat to escape. He's bound and beaten, bleeding slightly, but the "crows" are professionals and ignore him, but Lucanis sees that he's going to drown and grabs him, taking him to shore. As the man passes out, all he sees is a dark shape swimming up to him with glowing pink eyes. Lucanis leaves him on the beach once he's sure he's still breathing, but cant help and return the day after to check on him. The man is nearby, on a dock looking out into the sea (hoping to see his rescuer) and as Lucanis sneaks closer, the man slips off the end of the dock and falls in, and Lucanis realizes that he cant swim as he immediately starts drowning. Lucanis hauls him back onto the beach and starts swearing at him in Antivan about wasting his hard work saving him the first time, and Spite even takes over to say "You have the survival instincts of a scallop" to which Lucanis replies "No, that is an insult to scallops" and Rook (because of course it's Rook) is just stunned and blurts out you're beautiful" Lucanis stares at him, then turns to swim away, assuming this guy must have a concussion. Rook apologizes and confirms that Lucanis saved him and asks if he can see him again. Lucanis says it is Very unlikely, and Rook insists that he let Rook repay him for saving his life, saying he can get Lucanis anything from the surface. Lucanis thinks he's full of shit but Rook mentions something about food and that gives him pause. The merpeople have cooking of a sort, but its not like the way surfacers cook. Rook sees that that has his attention and doesnt give him an opportunity to refuse, quickly saying if Lucanis comes back to this dock in two days time he'll have a whole spread of local delicacies to share with him and starts to run off, then turns and gives Lucanis his name, and Lucanis surpises himself by giving his name when Rook asks for it. Rook introduces Lucanis to cooking (he's not half bad but Lucanis quickly surpasses him) and more importantly coffee and after that its jist a matter of time before he falls for Rook (who was interested in his mysterious rescuer, but fell in love instantly when he saw him and got cussed out in Antivan) This one is more "how do i make Lucanis and Spite kiss" so no Rook in this one. Human Lucanis to start, experiments lead to him and Spite being fused together, then over the course of the "revenge tour" Lucanis and Spite overcome their problems, then respect and care for eachother, then Really Care for each other >:3 and on the "revenge tour" they find a way to separate each other through Zara's notes, but its very risky. Something happens (Illario?) that damages Spite's Core but isn't lethal to Lucanis, and in an act of desperation to save him he goes through with the separation, hoping that fully powered magical sea creature Spite will be able to heal himself. The process works, but the separation isnt clean, Lucanis still has some fishy elements, and they have a psychic link, like they're still partially connected. And then they make out sloppy style ever after the end (^w^)
