"Taking it out on other people" would still fall under stupidity or general immaturity just on the emotional spectrum.
I don't know them personally, so for them to make overzealous assumptions of others about being "rape sympathizers" and such just tells me they aren't very emotionally intelligent.

As far as other people goes, I found it's just important to find those who accept your values and provide an equal give-and-take to whatever type of relationship you're trying to form.
