A friend gave me a lovely facsimile copy of the 15th century Les Belles Heures de Jean Duc de Berry illuminated manuscript. I thought y-fronts were invented in the 1930s 🤔

Here's the thing... this object was unearthed in the yard of my in-laws' house – a 17th century barn in Oxfordshire, converted in the 1960s. Any idea what it might be?

Point of sale at #thesalonbuxton for my debut novel – a crime mystery set in a museum. What better way to pass the time while the hairs on the back of your neck are trimmed 😆

Another favourite comment from a child visitor to a natural history gallery was "The tiger was scary – it made me do a little wee!"

This awesome example (sculpted from Tunnock's tea cake wrappers) is on display at the Stirling Smith gallery.

As a museum educator, some of the most surprising feedback comes unsolicited from children. One of my all-time favourite letters read simply: Dear museum, thank you for letting me spend my pound.
