Reading that, I'm probably even more likely to listen than I would have been already! Those critiques are valid.

If you'll excuse the comparison, being a pacifist while you're marched off to be executed still ends the same. And if we all do it together, then we're all in the same grave.

I originally wrote this about Israel and Palestine, but the lessons apply here, too.

Acknowledging that the gov't is seldom a reliable narrator, even their own counterinsurgency manual says that security crackdowns only create more insurgents

Mr. End of History has another projection about how everything is going to be fine if we just let it play out? Cool. I know where this goes

Wild that we tolerate a "trained professional" opening fire when they "fear for their life." But a normal citizen does something unexpected when a gun is pointed at them and they should have just calmy followed orders worth no regard to what their fight or flight reflexes are screaming at them

Bold of you to assume that:

A) they'll be allowed to gain power again, and

2) that they'd be able to get out of their own way well enough to do something with power if they got it

A well written, if disturbing, article. I'd never heard of this group until a few days ago, and I'm glad to see outlets covering them.

A) Conscription is not great, regardless of who is doing it.

2) Hopefully the AfD party stays on the outside looking in of German politics

I've been... self-medicating since COVID. I recognize what I'm doing, but have little interest in correcting it. I appreciate you talking about this

Considering the backlash against an American Eagle ad making a shitty genes/jeans pun and calling it a "white supremacist dog whistle," this tracks

Cognitive dissonance really is a trademark characteristic for humanity, isn't it? It's probably what we do best

All those people claiming for years that the government had gotten too big might have been onto something. Government money is a hell of a drug, and those institutions can't afford to cut themselves off from their dealer

Every energy production method we've developed to date has negative externalities. Some people seem to think we can wave the renewable wand and wish ourselves out of this. To your point, this is simply not the case.

And it's also not a reason to quit trying. We've go to pull out all the stops

I went back to playing D&D after a 20 year hiatus. It's one of the few interactions I have with adults outside of work and children's activities

Not to mention the way the Fed normally deals with these things is to add taxes and licenses, which is really only a barrier for the non-wealthy

He may be underwater in the polling, but he also has a very concrete and observable floor at around 40%. It means little until that changes
