Caveats about different sports aren't necessary, the point is it's compelling and gets fans interested/following in ways they would not otherwise (e.g. raising the stakes beyond the TDF in a way that makes sense to an audience)

Very easy content to create a narrative around (and also I think interesting/compelling). Think about how much air time the promotion/relegation battle gets in Premier League, or how much compelling coverage exists for the Championship.
