Between vowels, and no more than two vowel sounds next to eachother ect) but those cousin languages play by enough of the rules to sound like words, but break them in a few places (schmutz) or would be valid in english but are unfamiliar (the root of comedy is the unexpected)

Its probably due to the similarity to english like with dutch, german and danish which we find all a bit silly sounding at times. Nonsence words that are too removed from english dont sound like words (like key smashes) because they dont follow english language rules (like limited consonantes
