My thoughts on the new Dissidia in a nutshell.
I've quit mobile games so far, and Opera Omnia more or less broke my trust in a Dissidia game featuring Luneth, Arc, Refia or Ingus in any meaningful capacity.

A new Dissidia (mobile) game has been announced.
I can't tell you who exactly will be in it.
But I can confidently tell you who won't be.

For Luneth, his sigil is the belts of his vest, creating a 3x3 pattern.
For Arc, his sigil is the X on his belt buckle.
For Refia, her sigil is the cross on her brooch.
For Ingus, his sigil is his teardrop-shaped necklace.

It's been a bit, so here's a more minor bit of Final Fantasy III remake trivia.
Each of the four protagonists have a sigil based on a piece of their outfit. These sigils appear on certain jobs such as the Knight or Magus jobs.

Remember that post about how I commissioned @curse360.bsky.social to create a final boss version of Ingus('s Clone)?
Yeah, he was only half of a final boss.
Here's Onion Knight('s clone), the other half.

The Final Fantasy III 3D remake is 19 years old.
It was released in Japan on April 24th 2006.

I want to see Ingus and Onion Knight interact in some fashion, in large part because I can't imagine a dynamic between them not starting off as a complete shitshow, even with the potential for it to get better as time went on.

To give a bit more detail I requested the design with two major sources: One is a hair ref/canon design from one of the Kirby artbooks and the second from a beta design also from said artbook.

Another lovely commission I got from @jeejeepudding.bsky.social .
"Where's his eye, isn't this a gijinka?"
Yes and no.

Hiromichi Tanaka, who worked on the 3D remake, explained that it came down to the game's size: FF3 is one of the most packed Famicom games to be released and the sheer size and scope of it made it hard to put on the system.

FF3 was the only Famicom-era Final Fantasy to not get a wonderswan port.
The ports for FF1 and 2 would go on to be influential towards those games, especially in terms of art direction. Even today, the Pixel Remasters use the environmental art direction of those versions.

I feel like talking about another Final Fantasy III fun fact right now, so let's do a quick one.
The Wonderswan version.

The reuse of XI models makes more sense than you'd think: The FF3 remake was originally intended to be on the PS2, prior to Nintendo requesting SE make it for their new DS system.
Additionally, Tomoyo Asano worked on the PS2 Full Metal Alchemist games.

FFXI's influence ended up bleeding back into FFIII's 3D remake in a few ways. The new job abilities and balancing were similarly inspired by XI, there was a consideration to reuse models from XI (which did not pan out) and Tanaka says that XI has a similar "worldview" to III.

(That said, he also seems to feel that XI reworked the world/structure that 1-3 used.)

Aspects of FFIII ended up influencing aspects of FFXI. In particular, the 'mandatory' job sections ended up encouraging Tanaka to pursue a more balanced design with the game so as not to have similar situations.

FF11 was the first Final Fantasy since the original FF3 where Koichi Ishii and Hiromichi Takana worked on a Final Fantasy game. FF11 is considered to be the closest to the game they wanted to make.

When describing a scrapped Dragoon command, they revealed that a slew of new job abilities were considered for a multiplayer vs mode.
However, the developers scrapped when they decided that they were uncomfortable with Luneth and co fighting each other.

Tucked in the back of the Japanese official strategy guide for the FF3 remake (specifically the DS version: The PSP one replaced it with a gallery) is an interview with the developers. They go into numerous aspects of the game, including the job commands.

- Mag Launcher from Evolution: The World of Sacred Device/Far Off Promise/Evolution Worlds/Evolutia/whatever,
- Mega Man/Rock Volnutt from Mega Man Legends/Rockman Dash
- and Vyse from Skies of Arcadia/Eternal Arcadia.

I got a new commission from N0nsenseMob on Twitter and decided to give it the treatment it deserves (ignore that I failed to size it properly.

Got a commission from @curse360.bsky.social, who does incredible work.
There's a context to this, in the form of a fever dream of a crossover AU that I don't think I have it in me to tweet about so...
Ingus if he clone and final boss (guest staring the Chaos Rings from Knuckles' Chaotix)

A visual aid I made regarding Onion Knight and those two guys he sometimes gets mistaken for.
