This fails so hard even on a purely calculating strategic level. MTG is vastly more effective as an anti-Trump Republican than she would be as a Democrat.

Yes but my prediction isn't entirely hopeful of course. It's also assuming that things will get so bad that they will be hard to forget quickly.

What's going to happen in the US is that Gen Z will be the first of many successive generations who are going to associate right wing politics with economic and moral ruin. What the Republican party is doing to the country is going to vastly overshadow any supposed grievances towards liberals.
