They also partner heavily with Elon Musks other company starlink to send thousands of satellites into space, achieving one of the largest active satellite constellations.

This drastically cut costs and allowed them to do more flights than they would have without.

They were also the first private company to send astronauts to the international space station with Crew Dragon in 2020. This brought back americas crewed launches after the retirement of the space shuttle.

Now onto SpaceX

Founded by Elon Musk in 2002, SpaceX focuses on its ambitious goals of making humanity live on multiple planets with the hope of spreading out the species to prevent extinction.

Some of their achievements include reusable rockets! The Falcon 9 has been able to be reused 17 times

And lastly for today blue origin also emphasizes cleaner rocket fuels, like the liquified natural gas powered BE-4 Engine.

You’ll notice that Blue Origin tends to move slowly, but provides an emphasis on testing, safety, and longevity in all of their projects

Blue origin is also assisting nasa with its dreams of returning to the moon. They have created the blue moon lander as a part of nasa’s Artemis program to hopefully aid in the effort. A lunar landing vehicle developed to bring astronauts and supplies to the surface of the moon.

Their under develop New Glenn rocket is one of their biggest projects yet, with hopes of being able to create a reusable rocket that can also carry heavy payloads. Allowing it to create a future of cost effective access to orbit.

The new Sheppard rocket offers commercialized flights and has so far flown a whopping 47 people into space!

Although this is just to fund their main endeavors. They hope to create a rocket that can be reused over and over again!

Blue Origin was first established by Jeff Bezos back in 2000, and it tends to focus on a more long term and sustainable future in space development. One of the ways they make money to fuel their rocket endeavors is by offering suborbital space tourism!

So Blue origin and Space X are two very big private companies within the space industry, each founded and led by a different billionaire based in America, ready for the modern day space race. But they differ heavily in their goals and ambitions, let’s looks at Blue origin first.

If it makes you feel better I’m sure they’ll implement it eventually once they figure out how to properly scale it all without overwhelming everyone’s data repos! I believe that’s the problem or they might have already figured that out and will implement it soon lol
December 12, 2024 at 9:29 PM
Haha ya I made a post about this going a bit more in depth on how blue sky works and also what’s kind of wrong about hanks take on this. Unfortunately with the barrier to entry most people won’t be able to or wanting to do it their selves making them use it almost like it’s a centralized network :(
December 12, 2024 at 9:23 PM
You have to be tech savvy enough to use ur own personal data server and app view!!! So they are an option it’s just an option with a bit of a barrier to entry creating an over reliance on blue sky leading to unintentional centralization if that makes any sense

Honda civic, and before that the accord. Last forever taken me now8 times across the country, I think I’m like 9000 miles overdue on an oil change and no issues lol I think it would run with no oil in it at this point.

Anyways just some quick thoughts while on my lunch break

But in the end I feel we are all just products of humanity, and in the end it may be more likely that we create a centralization within this decentralized network for a sense of socialization lol.

If we all gravitate to a handful of big communities there’s still just a handful of specific rules we follow. And if we concentrate governance to a handful of communities many of them will start to share similar ideas and people. And they won’t start to look all that different.

Also decentralized networks are supposed to bring about less censorship and rules and more I guess you could say chaos. And this is done because communities are allowed to do their own moderation. But as humans we like to go where other people are. It is a social network after all.

When a majority of users on a decentralized platform use a centralized server is it truly decentralized anymore?

For one a lot of people are not going to either a) be tech savvy enough to feel comfortable hosting everything themselves b) not have the financial means to do so or c) just not give enough fucks to go out of their way to do that.

So my first thoughts on this are the probable over reliance of Bluesky itself instead of everyone hosting their own data. This probably will happen for a few reasons.
