Cool, never saw their tail! How old are they, and will they lose that sort of "notochord appendage"? Does it help them swim or is it phylogenetically constrained?

Hi Jacquelyn, I'm a first year Assistant Professor at the University of Vermont. I weave knowledge derived from genomic data and Indigenous Knowledges to identify and characterize biodiversity below the species level. My overarching goal is to better understand fish and inform fishery management.
