Shorter hole than expected. Grabbed the Excel file from here: www.trade.gov/i-94-arrival.... For those countries, the UK doesn't quite match (but it's close) for March, but the others do. Canada...has a note about a different update cycle. No real digging to understand the data...grain of salt:

I've got my #1. Kinda' lost after that.

Fitness apps make some of the most bizarre #dataviz choices. This gem from Strava: dual axes, neither of which is zero-based, one of which is reversed, and no direct visual cue as to which data goes with which axis.

Fun 5K run to the beach in time for the sunrise this morning at #Ei2025.

Delta either has no idea how long it is to my destination (this clip ranges from 56 min to 19 hrs) or is making a philosophical statement about there not actually being a destination, as life truly is a journey, and I will be passing through some interim destination at each of these future times.

I've long thought that "analytics" was an unnecessarily fancified term for putting on airs when it comes to "using data." And now... we've got a near-rhyming extension!

Have buzzword bingo cards and drinking games been updated with "agentic" yet? Seems tedious. Maybe it's a task for agentic AI.

Ever sat in a public space with a TV on without sound and found yourself thinking, “I wish I could hear what they’re actually saying?”

I don’t think I’ve ever had as strong of the opposite experience than I’m having right now. Ick!

If I had a nickel for every time I thought, "You know what the Analytics Power Hour podcast really needs? Some high quality kitchen cabinets...!"

Me: "What are your thoughts on posting a teaser video on BlueSky to promote links in to a video on LinkedIn & a post on Medium?"

Claude (for real): "The 1-minute video on BlueSky could work well as a hook if you structure it strategically."

We'll see.

It's wild how often I've had business partners declare they have set their KPIs, only to admit that, well, no, they don't have *targets* set for many/all of them.

An illustration from www.amazon.com/Analytics-Ri... imagines a game of darts without a dartboard.

I’ve had a small epiphany (an insight‽) about…insights. The term is overused, but that overuse came from two different sources: 1) analytics, 2) market research. Here’s the 60-second version of me making that case. For the extended cut (still under 4 minutes), see www.linkedin.com/posts/tgwils...

#datastorytelling is a topic that's having a moment. It's a broad and deep topic, so that moment is well-deserved. I got nudged into making a downloadable 1-pager / desktop background / slide template reference on the topic. It turned out pretty well, IMHO. www.factsandfeelings.io/datastories

Fun time at #cbusdaw getting a nice overview of marketing analyticss (Piwik PRO) and behavioral analytics (Microsoft Clarity) with Josh Silverbauer from From the Future.

Just another Wednesday night in Columbus. Good beer, good pizza, p-values, and some strong priors.

An unexpected (until 45 minutes before it happened) crossing of paths at SLC with @davidmcb.bsky.social , which means that, on this one trip, my wife has now met, in person, everyone that I currently co-host a podcast with and every one of my current co-workers.

For a ‘merica-specific palindromic date—4/20/2024–it seems fitting that my very ‘merica F-150 achieved a palindromic mileage.

For several years, I've (Columbus, OH, US) occasionally gotten notice of livestock sales by a fellow who shares my name and has a similar email address in Victoria, Australia. No good way to contact and correct. Yesterday, the same misfire occurred when he reported he had found a border collie. 1/2

Text from my youngest (college freshman). The over/under on when she'll realize she has a future in analytics is 3 years.

Three days into the semester, and my (college freshman) daughter has all assignments entered into Google Sheets with dropdowns for the class and status and conditional formatting to change the fill / strikethrough based on the assignment status. So proud.

Everyone should superheat their house to 130-150 degrees F for a few hours at least once in their life.

No they shouldn't.

It's mildly interesting what sorts of things go awry even after fully prepping for the experience, but it's definitely on my list as the least desirable way to drop US$6K.
