Rump posting an AI video of dumping shit on America perfectly exemplifies why we were protesting. It’s his actual feelings about our country.

I wish Trump would have just become an alcoholic like his brother. None of this would have ever happened.

From the liner notes of a Brian Wilson tribute album I was honored to be part of.

Some of my best moves on social media were deciding not to post what I was thinking.

I have an old fashioned car - I have to drive it myself.

I would like for a psychologist to break down how it’s actually fear that makes people bow down to Trump.

Having Rump run the country is like putting Biff Tanden in charge - a belligerent stupid bully who Fs everything up. I keep holding out hope for a George McFly style revenge.

Hypothetical question: If Murdoch’s Fox News propaganda machine was somehow able to be shut down by mid oughts would we be where we are now? My vote is No.

In my area, there are a lot of issues with landslides, hills collapsing, and mine subsidence. It feels like an appropriate metaphor for what’s happening to our democracy right now.

Remorseful Trump voter: “I never thought it would happen to me.” The first three words say it all.

Please stop saying “the Internet” when referring to social media. I worked with early Internet pioneers in the 90s - it was all about access to information, a tremendous advancement. Social media has warped it by allowing access to misinformation and lazy people can’t distinguish between the two.

Current self-preservation technique: scroll down / change channels every single time something about Rump and/or his asinine cohorts appears.

Day after Biden’s farewell speech the news reports correctly listed his great accomplishments with infrastructure, job creation, and clean energy, then ended with his 39% approval rating. WTF is wrong with this country??

I’m surprised how many people I admire are still on X. I haven’t deleted it - I still get notifications about their posts - I go look at them and then get out quickly before the brain infection catches me.

Receptionist: May I help you?
Guy: I need to have the doctor check out a fungal infection on my private parts. It smells terrible.
Receptionist: Malepew?
Guy: Err, can you hear me??

It took me long enough, but I finally watched Oppenheimer. One big takeaway was a reminder that American politics was just as fucked up seventy years ago. Not exactly a comforting thought, but at least good to keep in mind when it seems like it’s been one long downhill trajectory.

Hostile takeovers are very common in the business world - it’s how Musk took over Twitter - but now it’s happened to our country. Government and business are supposed to be separate entities - the system is broken.

The Rump presidency is a train wreck I simply can’t turn my head to look at.

Got the most recent Lemon Twigs album - wow, have I been missing out! “In My Head” for one example is pure pop magic ala XTC (a compliment I don’t hand out lightly). So many influences of music I love (Rundgren, Judee Sill, …). Really good stuff.

A series of random events often determines your next step. Recently woke up with Dylan’s “You Ain’t Goin Nowhere” in my head, same day I heard a great version of it by The Byrds with Earl Scruggs, then saw an ad for “Girl from the North Country" and I HAD to go. It was very good.
