What a lovely essay! Thank you! My favorite bird? Probably the cardinal. I had one that fought with his own reflection in a window every morning! Even so, cardinals bring a warm touch of scarlet to our long snowy winters.

When the weather turned, I placed a container of baby succulents on our outdoor picnic table. The next day, they were all gone. The blue jays thought they were tasty appetizers.
