What is even better is having a society where having less will not kill you. Highly recommended. (Money is still good to have, but much less about survival.)

I've started to ask "ok, I think I understand your problem/plight/whatever, how can I help?" with some reasonable success. My instincts about what the person wants (or needs) are about 75% accurate, so it prevents a fair bit of frustration.

Those "fruits" aren't even fruits, but (at least arguably) nuts. So a strawberry is a (delicious) nut bearing framework.
