By giving Eris butterfly wings that look like the Lorenz System, we risk syncretizing Eris and Psyche (the OG Ancient Greek butterflygirl). But Psyche bled for Eros for the first rose (with the first rose came the world), as Adonis bled for Aphrodite, as Hyacinth bled for Apollo.

Eris has no associated sacred animals, unlike many members of the Greek pantheon. Some depictions include black bird wings and later interpretations connect her to serpents or crows; neither of these satisfy me. I propose the order Lepidoptera, for reasons that should be obvious.

Related to aforementioned Dune Phase, I've been learning a lot more about Islam. Specifically, I've been reading Meadows of Gold, a 10th century Abbasid history and one of the best pre-modern history books I've ever read. It's a delight to read and I've been learning a lot. I had a really great time! A definite highlight was the Evergreen Aviation Museum. The Spruce Goose was so unbelievably large it still staggers me to remember it. Otherwise, a lot of good people, good hiking, and good food. I tried sushi for the first time and really loved it.

I have recently finished Haibane Renmei. There is not much I feel like I can properly say about this anime other than it is extremely good and everyone should watch it. It might be the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Oh, and it has a smoking angel girl if you're into that.

Pretty incredible hike. I'm sorer than I've ever been in my life, but the thrill of getting to that peak is still with me. I never realized what it felt like to be alive until that moment.
