Agree completely, but that’s an unfortunate photo to use as the lede. USAF planes don’t have civilian N-numbers like airliners. The jet in the picture clearly has its military tail number clearly displayed. And the big green stripe on the tail even says what base it’s from.

As my U-2 survival instructor taught me, when faced with a life threatening situation, don’t panic — think. Otherwise, you just die tense. And that advice has saved my life more than once.

So let’s think. And let’s not see ominous bogeymen in otherwise normal goings on.

That’s exactly my point. “Why” these aircraft are flying at any particular moment is classified, but the fact that they fly regularly and have for decades throws cold water on the idea they are flying now specifically because an attack on Iran is imminent.

I’m not sure this is true. E-4B aircraft are airborne quite often. They regularly came through Beale AFB, CA when I was flying the U-2 there 1999-2004. Don’t read too much into any particular activity.
