Look what arrived today. I'm really looking forward to reading this book by @diegodlomax.bsky.social ☺️

I haven't counted them yet. I have some of mine, some from friends, some of my brother's, some of my sister's, some of my dad's. They accumulate over time. This lion by Lou Rivaldini I found at the Recycling Center, for example. It's from 1964.

I'd love to see some of your works. I'm not too great a fan of water colours, but gouache is different and better suited for my purposes. Did you ever try acrylic paint? This is a painting I made with acrylic paint. I found the frame and thought it needed a painting in it.

I found all kinds of things in books. Book marks, of course, postcards, notes, names, even smaller books, photos, etc. Once I could even return a book to the former owner's family. The original owner, a Holocaust survivor, had sadly passed away already.

For example, this "Alice in Wonderland" was printed 100 years ago, in 1925. It was gives as first prize for class work to one Agnes Denovan in 1928. I couldn't find out much about her, but I found a school and a photograph from 1925 that most likely shows her older sister Edith Denovan.

One of my first interests was astronomy, and later science fiction. Then fantasy literature followed. My dad loved to paint landscapes in oil as a hobby, and that's where I learned my first steps in art. I'm glad you like it. Sometimes I paint in oil, sometimes I use gouache.

I think the oldest one is the first one below. It's a French medical book from 1745. It doesn't look very spectacular though. The other two are fairly old, too. I love the feeling and history of old books.

Actually, that happened a few times. But usually I find them back pretty fast. In the photos you saw only a small part of the library. It stretches over 3 floors. Here're some more pictures. I told all my friends never to throw books away. Give them to me instead. 😊

I'll gladly add your book to my collection. It's a bit embarrassing, but I must admit I have about 10,000 books by now. So, if I ever want to find a specific book again, I have to keep them in order. They're all properly shelved. 😊

I wish you all a happy and peaceful rest of the week.

Whatever works for you is right. I'm a librarian at heart. I organize my books by genre, and then alphabetically, but I also keep some antiquarian books separated from the others.

No title, oil on paper. Did that some years ago.

Already the way to the tea room was like following a Tolkien quest to the Shire.

Found this really lovely "Tea Pot Parlour" today in Luxembourg. It's new, it's cozy, the owner is friendly, the cakes were delicious. Best day of the month.

The kitchen door looked too boring. I had to paint it.

Le Parmesan or Parmigianino, an Italian renaissance painter, by Charles P. Landon. Found in "Galerie historique", printed in 1820, approximately.

On Monday was the last day of the annual Lions club charity book sale, and I had to take all these books home with me, on top of all the books I bought last Thursday. I love book sales, but fortunately they don't happen too often.😄

Went to a charity book sale today, and all those books wanted to come home with me. 😍

I can't believe the punk band "Die Ärzte" once looked like that. Somewhere in the early 1980s, I believe.

A somehow unusual statuette of Hanuman.
