What's a better way of spending a weekend of rain and sun than protesting? Saturday was for women's rights. Sunday for anti-fascism/anti-Musk.

Here's to more days spent on the streets with more and more people ✊

Here's to a 2025 where people are allowed and find the strength to voice their discontent. May we all unite in these and so many other issues, and take true democracy back from those who want to keep it for themselves ✊

In April and June, Scientist Rebellion (SR) and Extinction Rebellion (XR) took to the Copenhagen airport to demand the ban of private jets. In April they blocked a road and in June held a party.

In May, people from across Europe gathered in Malmö, Sweden, to demand for Eurovision not to allow Israel to compete. Across the bridge, in Copenhagen, students held a month long occupation at CPH university (KU).

Also in January and February, people flooded the streets of Lisbon and Madrid to protest the genocide of the Palestinian people and demand action from their governments.

While Spain now recognises the State of Palestine, Portugal does not. Countries like the US keep arming Israel.

In January and February, in Lisbon, people took the streets to demand housing access, and to denouce racism.

Lisbon remains one of the most expensive European cities to rent and live in. In October 2024, Odair Moniz was murdered by the police, leading to protests andq increased police violence.

We're nearly one week into 2025, but bear with me as I do a late wrap up of 2024. Specifically a protest photography one - because we have a short memory and it's worth remembering there are always people willing to fight for a kinder, more just world, whatever the cost.

Biólogos, querem que as vossas espécies de estudo acabem todas em museus de história natural com uma tabuleta a dizer "extinto por causa da crise climática e ecológica" ou vão juntar-se à luta?
