Newroz greetings from the water occupation. Newroz means the beginning of the new year for many people in the Middle East and around the world. Millions of people celebrated in Kurdistan the day before yesterday.

Bis heute werden die Freiheitsbestrebungen von Kurd*innen durch den türkischen Staat massiv angegriffen, zuletzt durch die neue Angriffswelle auf die Autonome Selbstverwaltung Nord- und Ostsyrien. Der deutsche Staat steht dabei als Partner an der Seite der Türkei.

Das Fest ist ein Symbol des Widerstandes. Die Feuer, die an Newroz angezündet werden, halten für die Menschen den Kampf gegen die Vernichtung ihrer Kultur lebendig. Auch die kurdische Freiheitsbewegung hat ihren Anfang an Newroz genommen.
