In 1853 George Crum was working as a chef in New York. A customer sent his french fries back to the kitchen saying they weren’t good. Irritated Crum cut the potatoes as thinly as possible, fried them until they were crisps put salt on and the potato chip was born. Unexpectedly the guest loved them.

Osbourn Dorsey was born a slave in Virginia 1836. He worked as a blacksmith. In 1878, he invented the doorknob, doorstop, clothes wringer, fire escapes, and a brick making machine. His ingenuity and brilliance has opened the door for generations to come. This black man is a credit to the human race.

Marie Van Brittan Brown, a black woman invented the first home security system. She is also credited with the invention of the first closed circuit television. Brown was born in Queens, New York, on October 22, 1922, and resided there until her death on February 2, 1999. She was a brilliant woman.
