I'm retired and living in Sydney, Australia.
I like my dog and noticing small bits of the natural world.
I'm interested in politics and think that the social democracies of scandanavia have a lot we can learn from to have a happy life

Another fine morning and Otto enjoying the morning sun again.

The grass was not damp like it was yesterday so there's time time for a nap before the morning walk.

Yesterday there was another fine morning and Otto enjoyed the morning sun again.

He didn't want to lie down because there had been an overnight storm and the grass was still damp.

Another fine morning and Otto enjoying the morning sun again.

He only suns his belly for a short time just before coming back inside so I had to wait patiently to take this pic.

I think this Gymea Lily is the tallest one in the park now.

They are endemic to the Sydney region and can grow to 6 meters (20 feet) tall

How fleeting is fame

I like your Crested Caracara.

What do you think of this kookaburra I saw sitting in a gum tree?
August 25, 2025 at 12:31 AM
I like to watch bees too.

This is a pic of a Australian blue banded bee which I took while walking my dog during our autumn 5 months ago.

They are solitary bees who forage and raise their brood all by themselves

I think it's appropriate that I now upload again the video I made of kookaburras laughing.

Kookaburra family sitting in a gum tree in my local park.

Kookaburras usually lay 3 eggs. The youngest chick is often killed by its siblings.

I only see 1 chick here. Maybe food is scarcer this year?

The sun was shining on one of the gymea lily flower heads yesterday so I was able to get this close up.

The gymea lily
It's endemic to coastal areas near Sydney. It has leaves more than 1 metre (3 ft) long and it grows a flower spike up to 6 metres (20 ft) high. The bright red flowers are about 10 centimetres (4 in) across.

These are in my local park

It's cold today so no lizards are about so this kookaburra is on the ground looking for bugs

Is this some sort of pretend conflict so Mr Dutton can give the appearance of not being a servant of billionaires?

I note reported in the article that Ms Reinhart is going to continue to support the Liberal Party.

Post a fictional character who you think would be an antivaxxer.

Hard mode: No villains

You talking to me?
