Yes. And, they've been extremely disciplined. In every video, you heard teens reminding each other over and over "don't take the bait" as CBP agents tried to goad them into violence--in between their taunts and curses, all the while, documenting the abuse. I've been VERY impressed.

"East Side" neighborhood. 86% Latino. They purposely rammed into a car they were chasing down a residential street hard enough to send it careening through an intersection. Neighbors were outraged. CBP claimed they threw rocks. It wasn't. They tear gassed kids, babies, their own agents, CPD.

Definitely a tactic they use on repeat. Security cam footage, bystander video, and--once they were forced to wear them--body cam video, have all been invaluable in exonerating the people they lie about and harm. They STILL lie, despite evidence--but District Court judges have caught on. SCOTUS? Nah.

Judge Ellis wrote a tour de force in that opinion. Bless her. The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals? Not so much. And SCOTUS...? This is ALL the fault of the Roberts court.

There were never 2000 "ICE" agents in Chicago. ICE is ALWAYS here because of O'Hare. Broadview has been an ICE processing facility for 20 years. The surge was mostly CBP and agents from other Fed (ATF, FBO, ERO, DHSI) agcies-- a few hundred--not trained for this. IDF sucks but they aren't inept.

YOU are not the one who will get the blowback. People in La Villita, Brighton Park, Pilsen, Belmont-Cragin, Cicero, Rogers Park will. I've BEEN HERE fighting fascists but the goal is to keep neighbors safe, not getting our rocks off. We are here for the long haul, preparing for their return.

It will not be fast. Doesn't mean it can't/shouldn't be undertaken. We need to flip Congress so Dems have subpoena power and committee chairs. Commitments from younger, progressive candidates who are willing to take the fight to DOJ will be necessary. There's already a core group ITCHING for this.

What needs to happen in the next two election cycles is a "great replacement" of the old guard/moderates in the Dem party by younger progressives from DSA and WFP. Promises to hold these people to account in criminal court MUST be a commitment. DOJ will need to be purged of Bondi/Trump/Patel.

That's the Court of APPEALS for the 7th Circuit. Both of these are stays on orders by the Court of the Northern District of IL, which is ONE of the jurisdictions within the US 7th Circuit, which includes all of the US District Courts in IL, IN, WI. Trump DOJ automatically appeals up to SCOTUS.

I'm in Chicago and we've been LIVING this. ICE lost the power struggle within DHS to CBP as the lead agency in these ops. DC pulled ICE supervisors from the field for working too slowly. CBP is MUCH more confrontational & violent. Homan wanted to focus on criminals. Miller just wants numbers.

Many people use "ICE" as a general term to mean immigration enforcement--esp that early on. That raid included many agencies pressed into service most of whom wore no insignia. It was Bovino and CBP who staged, led, and shot video of it for an enforcement porn vid. The theatrics got him promoted.

NYC needs fed services and $$. He doesn't have to like or agree with Trump, but he does NYC no good by letting Trump manipulate him into one of Trump's feuds. Bringing fed $$ home is part of the job and Trump is vindictive AF. Mamdani finessed him beautifully.

ICE is ALWAYS here. And, they said some CBP agents were staying, but they are cowards without numbers. They considered being yelled at & sworn at "assault" and if they got the slightest scratch when attacking someone, they pressed charges. I mean, a Subway sandwich? C'mon. Who's a snowflake?
