The twisty tomato throw that could be replaced by a conveyor belt is basically the same thing as a nurse knowing about anatomy and pharmacology or an engineer knowing about fluid mechanics.

Usually by people who also earnestly repost every shady poll from a payday loan company about how 83% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

Lost mine a few years back. The only comfort is to trust that you made the decision from a place of love and a desire to ease suffering. The right time to lose them is never, but we don’t get that as an option so we just do the best we can.

I remember the heady days of like 15 years ago when all conservative advice for young people boiled down to ‘become an engineer’. Glad to know they aren’t professionals now.

Stancil isn’t even a moderate, he’s probably to the left of 90%+ of the country. People just hated him because he thought a communist revolution wasn’t in the cards in a country where Trump gets half the vote.

Relative to NYC, DC, or SF? No. But it’s gotten a lot more expensive since new construction fell off, it’s definitely not the ridiculously good deal it was pre-COVID.

Same. I was waiting to get bad lettered by US Bank whenever they got tired of paying me 1% of my rent and then I'd switch back to my Venture X but it sounds like I might be switching to a debit card. I'm sure the cost savings will be passed along though 🤡

Feels like the game is coming to an end for the transactors. Personally, I'm fine with it, but I wish we could have gotten a good instant payment network first. But that would have required cudgeling a bunch of banks and merchants onto FedNow and Jesus fucking forbid we do that.

I had just been wondering today what ever happened to her. You sure heard a lot less from her after the election.

If I’m one of the minions I’ve also gotta be a little uncomfortable with my boss saying “Lol actually we’re going to ignore pardons from the last administration.”

I mean all standard resolutions are kinda performative. If you’re at the mercy of dumbass undecideds though, you understand that they have strong reactions to ‘Rep. Suchandsuch refused to condemn throwing Molotovs at grandmas, what is he hiding?!’ attack ads.

“I don’t want to read that this was a transparent motte-and-bailey trap resolution that they voted for to avoid accusations of supporting antisemitic violence, I want to be mad!”

I groaned hard when she first announced and with her ‘one bus stop away from the district’ thing, but I’ve gained a lot of respect for her in the last months. She was always a long shot and I don’t think she’ll win but I hope we see more of her.

We all agree he was inspired by the Taken ‘The rate has just gone up by 10%’ bit right?

We’re gonna need a special set of initiatives in the cradle to grave welfare state to care for that most oppressed class: People who make lots of money but can’t stop spending it.

I feel like that had a moment and it’s passed, I could be wrong though.

As I understand it it’s booming in the UK, Australia, and Ireland, but for the US I’d agree it’s way down. Not sure about Canada or NZ.

Opioids are the big American problem.

Every person who has ever tried to walk someone through where to click on a Zoom or Teams call should immediately see the problem. “Okay about a third of a way from the left, like 20% of the way down. No, no, your mouse was on it a second ago, just pause for a second for the video to catch up.”
