Local papers that use the NYT news service retain the headline and upfront Republican-friendly framing and cut out the more even-handed or Democrat-friendly remainder of the article. This becomes obvious when you subscribe to both the Times and a local paper using the NYT news service.

Republicans have long advocated a VAT or other form of consumption tax to shift the tax burden down the food chain. I see the tariffs as a form of back door VAT that accomplishes this purpose.

When I first saw the title of the op-ed, I thought “Republicans must be concerned with BlueSky and have planted an article with one of their water-carriers to disparage it.” Then I saw the op-ed was by Megan McCardle and thought “Bingo.”

In the small state-university dominated town where I studied, anti-nepotism rules prevented faculty wives from being hired by the University. Many of the teacher’s aides in my daughter’s elementary school had PhD’s.

Why did only the Daily Show cover Trump’s ramble about lumberjacks in Qatar? I am Trump’s age and if one of my friends went off like that, I would be contacting his family over concerns about his mental condition.
