I like to pull the interior color from my pieces onto the exterior in some way. This video shows how I do that. I take a hard pencil, like an “H” and put guidelines on the outside of my piece....

On bone dry pieces of this size, I typically wait about 20 minutes in between underglazes coats. It takes longer if I’m painting on bisque ware. I am using @maycocolors Squash Yellow underglaze. #terrikern #terrikernstudios #underglazepainting #earthenwarepottery

I’m excited to start painting my shot glasses! I hand paint a cocktail recipe on each one. I am more of a gin, vodka, tequila drinker but I am on the lookout for some cocktails made with bourbon, whiskey and rye. 🥃

Day 1 of throwing had some serious failures. I chucked them in a bag to get them out of my brain so I can move forward and make progress. The next day, however, that wet clay needs to be addressed. This video shows the beginning of that process. Stay tuned for the next step. #terrikern

I’m working on my line paintings today. As you can see from the close up, I don’t always follow the pencil lines I’ve mapped out. I always like to leave room for changes while I work. As I move the brush across the surface of the tile, my instincts kick in and the flow of the brush lines follow.
