I didn’t realize how much Yiddish I spoke until we had a German cartoonist in our studio who said “you speak a lot of German words but some of them I don’t know” and I had her list the words. She went home with a full knowledge of how to say “penis” in Yiddish.

Oh I never watched Queer Eye. Was there anyone on the show who was from Britain? That would be how a word from Polari ended up in regular American slang, right there, I bet you’re totally right.

I wondered what language zhuzh came from because it doesn’t look like Yiddish or anything else, and it’s Polari, probably, so my guess is we stole it from the Great British Baking Show or something.

Thank god we’re being defended from things that ended five years ago. You never know when time is going to loop back on itself.
