Personally, I don't think it's unethical, shady, or even mean. Cross platform UI is hard; doing that with an existing system (especially one as complex as WPF) isn't trivial.

And if it works for folks, probably worth it.

If you can target a customer base that has a large investment in X and X doesn't support Y, and Y is in demand, making Y achievable is probably cheaper than starting over. That means third party can demand quite a bit for offering Y.

In dem Sinne kann es also jederzeit so sein. Die Hoffnung stirbt halt zuletzt.

Aber man sollte auch drüber diskutieren was passieren sollte wenn Friedensgespräche plötzlich möglich werden. Das kann plötzlich gehen und häufig ist das ein kleines Zeitfenster. Daher ist Vorabkonsens auf europäischer Ebene sinnvoll.

Das heißt: weiter Druck auf Russland ausüben, mehr Sanktionen, Anlangen nicht einfrieren sondern konfiszieren, und der Ukraine mehr Ressourcen geben.

Wir hoffen, dass sich das Klima schnell ändert und der Widerstand gegen Putin wächst. Wie schnell deren Wirtschaft schrumpft ist auch ein Punkt und da gibt es verschiedene Sichtweisen. Ich denke dass das auch schwer vorherzusagen ist.

Putin wird nur verhandeln, wenn nichts anderes mehr geht, in dem Punkt sind wird uns wohl alle einig.

Die Frage ist, wie die Lage in Russland ist. Und die Geschichte zeigt, dass sich das schnell ändern kann. Das ist von außen häufig schwierig vorherzusagen.

I understand that Ukraine doesn’t like that, but it’s in their own best interest if its allies can discuss it freely.

Of course, actual peace negotiations must involve Ukraine but I don’t see this discussions as that but rather as prep work to define a joint line across its European allies.

And because of that, it’s also clear why these conversations are happening in private: we don’t want Putin to know upfront what is acceptable and what isn’t and to whom. Equally, it makes sense that allies need to discuss options that Ukraine officials won’t like.

Otherwise Putin can just make proposals he knows some parts of Europe will support while others vehemently oppose it. It could become a tool to divide its supporters, ultimately reducing aid for Ukraine. That would be worse.

Given that, and given where Russia is heading, there will be deals on the table. And given how fragmented the support for Ukraine is I do believe it’s helpful to get ahead of it and figure out how we feel about specific outcomes and ensuring mainstream support among the supporters.

At the same time, I don’t think anyone believes that Ukraine can get back its borders from before 2014 (ie before the annexation of Crimea). It could, but it would require a massive shift in Ukraine’s allies to give it what it needs to win, rather than merely giving it what it needs to not lose.
