2/5 “The chemical and pesticide industry has been so effective in their lobbying that they’ve kept a toothless law on the books, bringing new chemicals to market with virtually no pre-market testing for toxicity.” — Dr. Philip Landrigan (Pediatrician, Epidemiologist, and TIFO Board Member)
January 27, 2026 at 12:25 AM
1/5 Did you know outdated chemical safety rules may be allowing harmful substances into our food, water, and everyday products — often with little oversight? 😟
A major scientific review shows how weak regulations are putting public health at risk.

3/5 This is about policy and profit.
The project is backed by public subsidies and regulatory shortcuts
The real value of the project is in gold, not antimony
The project raises serious environmental health concerns as state air protections are being rewritten to accommodate this mine
December 26, 2025 at 4:38 PM
2/5 The mine is being promoted as part of America’s national security strategy—reducing reliance on China for minerals like antimony, used in ammo, EV batteries, and more. But the amount of antimony that can be recovered would meet domestic demand for only two years. This is really all about gold.

In an era of instant gratification and on-demand results, why is this work seen as slow?

Because environmental health is a long game. It addresses complex, systemic problems with delayed, widespread impacts. Not just symptoms, but root causes.

What he learned:

👨🔬 Environmental health isn’t about single exposures. It’s about long-term, repeated exposures to harmful toxins.

👶 The impacts fall hardest on children and women of childbearing age, shaping entire generations.

🧵1/ It’s not a quick fix. It’s a long haul.

In 2023, Brock Keller traveled to Uzbekistan with TIFO to help assess the health impacts of the shrinking Aral Sea—a stark reminder of how deeply pollution can reshape lives amid environmental changes.
