Safer roads mean safer communities. If you know a dangerous road location, put it forward for the Black Spots Program and help save lives.

Anyone can nominate a Black Spot, whether you are part of a community group, a road user organisation, local government, or an individual. Your nomination goes to a local panel, which includes community representatives, and helps ensure funding goes where it is needed most.

If you have not heard about this terrific Commonwealth initiative, it tackles dangerous road locations head-on, funding upgrades like traffic signals and roundabouts to reduce crashes, save lives, and prevent serious injuries.

However, we do not do it alone. For example, the intersection of Eastfield Road, Morinda Street, and Railway Avenue in Ringwood East is being upgraded thanks to the Albanese Labor Government’s Black Spot Program.

In 2022, we also made the Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership free for eligible students. This means school camps have the skilled workforce they need to provide the highest quality outdoor education for our kids.

That is why we are making sure no child misses out on camps, sports or excursions by increasing the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund to $400 from Term 1 next year.

Thanks to $489,746 from the Allan Labor Government’s Capital Works Fund, this upgrade is part of our ongoing work to improve public education infrastructure across Victoria.

Every child deserves safe, clean and dignified school facilities, no matter where they live.

In Croydon, key improvements to Plymouth Road and Kirtain Drive were completed in late 2023, including new traffic lights and additional lanes. This made and continues to make our roads safer for both motorists and pedestrians.

Construction begins August 2025, with completion expected by July 2026.

The new building will feature:
🎭 Performing arts spaces
🍽️ Canteen and trade kitchen
👩‍🍳 Food tech and hospitality classrooms
🧰 Storerooms, toilets, and admin areas

This is a big win for public education and for local students.
