Who is this a victory for? The delay will just result in more staff accepting the deal. Without telework/schedule flexibilities and with schedule F looming, staff want out desperately. The Unions should fight for that instead and staff would stay. It’s not about the $ it’s about the benefits.

Many Fed employees see this deal as a life raft; things are so bad in only three weeks that staff want out. If the unions wanted staff to stay, they would fight with everything they have for telework and workplace flexibilities and against schedule F; without those Feds will leave in swarms.

This will result in more people signing up by the extended deadline and if it is deemed illegal a VERA with VSIP offer will be made that even more staff would accept. And, the delay will anger Trump and result in an expedited firing of probationary staff.

So now more employees will sign up for the deal due to the extension and if it’s determined unlawful, Trump/Musk will simply offer VERA with VSIP and get more people to take that. And, this will anger Trump and result in him firing all probationary staff.

The offer is likely BS, but what’s your solution for fed workers that are being forced into a DC office 5 days a week with 4+ hour commutes who have been doing an outstanding job working from home since 2010? Serious question. Many staff feel they have limited options.

Received the email tonight; it is not a buyout. There’s no $. There’s no early retirement. There’s no continuation of healthcare. You get to do the same job you’ve been doing (and the same job you did remotely while most were on admin leave during COVID), from home until 9/30.
