It’s just a show full of tropes: husband uses weaponized incompetence for jokes, MIL hypercritical of DIL whenever she has interests outside of kids/husband. It’s only funny to men that see themselves in it because the jokes are at the wife’s expense.

I like to ask “Do you think Everyone Loves Raymond is funny?” And you’d be surprised how well this culls the herd.

I think a lot of men just don’t like women—nothing to do with sexual orientation—but they are taught to dislike everything women are: sensitive, oft mercurial, “basic”, etc and so they just date for sex or because they are ‘supposed to’ but…we can tell. And until they reckon with that? Idek
